Our client is a precision casting foundry, part of a global engineering group, making components for aerospace and gas power turbines. They have a rare opportunity for an additional Quality Engineer to join the manufacturing team in Leeds. They are seeking an Engineering Degree / HND level graduate candidate with engineering quality experience, looking to develop a career in the industry. The Quality Engineer will analyse and reduce non-conformances within the casting facility to ensure the delivery of world class components that are fit for purpose in a timely manner and at a competitive cost. Key Responsibilities: - Act as customer quality contact including purchase order, component drawing, customer and International specification reviews and approval of sales shipments- Review and over check of customer procedures and quality documentation - Reduce complaints, returns and escapes by identifying robust corrective actions. In the format of RCCA or 8D reports- Control of changes and fixed process approvals including metallurgical and dimensional FAIR reviews and submissions to the customer- Maintain customer and international approvals as necessary- Conduct audits to ensure quality management system is robust including vertical and customer audits- Contribute as required to the development of new products- Help educate and train inspectors on the customer's quality requirements- Review and approve internal concession notes- Raise customer concessions and non-conformance report and ensure closure with required actions - Work closely with Product Engineering teams to resolve problems and reduce scrap - Work closely with Manufacturing teams to resolve problems and reduce rework- Perform work efficiently and in a positive manner- Be proactive in identifying opportunities to improve the effectiveness of our quality systems Candidates should be prepared to go the extra mile when necessary to get the job done, this would particularly apply at quarter end. The normal hours of work would be: 7.30am to 4.30pm Mon/Tues 7.30am to 4.15pm Wed/Thurs 7.30am to 12.00 noon Fri Although some additional hours on occasion would be necessary.
