Working within the Energy Team and reporting to the Head of Energy, this new role is multi-faceted to include development and ongoing management of a GIS to both assist activities within the firm and to provide a new service to clients. Additional key responsibilities will be to perform front end project management duties with an emphasis on site finding and project feasibility activities.
This role represents a great opportunity for the right person to develop their skills and apply their knowledge within a dynamic and evolving team.
The successful candidate will have:
-An inherent interest and understanding of the energy sector
-Good experience in the use of QGIS including the creation and management of data and plans to suit business needs
-Experience in energy generation projects or projects involving the installation of mid-large scale equipment both individually and as part of a multidisciplinary team
-Experience in creating project briefs, high level estimates and business cases
-Good third party and client liaison skills
-Skills in creating client facing reports and documentation
-Strong team and inter-personal skills
-The ability to adapt to changing business needs
-Strong written and verbal communication skills
-Strong numeracy and analytical skills
-An aptitude for research in developing fields
-Good organisation and planning skills
-The ability to work on own initiative
-A degree in GIS or an Engineering related subject
-Experience in use of 2D drawing packages such as AutoCAD
-The ability to use Microsoft Project.
Key deliverables
-Develop and manage an innovative GIS based upon business and client need
-Deliver plans, analysis and solutions, both independently and under direction
Use GIS as a tool to highlight opportunities to the Energy team and wider firm in a multi-disciplinary environment
-Provide ongoing data analysis throughout a project's lifecycle
-Promote use of GIS as a tool within the firm including the provision of training
-Promote use of GIS externally offering services to existing and new clients
-Assist in the development of data management tools and processes to ensure provision of efficient and accurate data
-Use site finding skills to highlight potential opportunities
-Draw up outline proposals including bespoke business cases
-Client liaison from initial contact to detailed proposal discussions
-Manage utility and regulatory authorities
-Provide information to support funding applications
