Reports to: Finance Director
Hours, Permanent: position, 40 hours per week, 0730-1630 Mon-Fri
Holiday: 28 days including public holidays
This company designs and manufactures innovative workspace furniture, based in London and California with many clients among top techs as well as blue chip legal, financial, retail manufacturing, and design brands.
This is a medium sized, 100 staff, £25m TO business established for 25 years as leaders in the workspace furniture market with a very strong track record for financial stability and energetic growth, which continues both in the UK and in the newer Los Angeles location established 5 years ago.
This finance role is located at the company's Hemel Hempstead office and factory.
Position overview
To have overall responsibility for
- All financial records & reporting
- Credit control
- Management of the finance team
Qualifications and Experience
- CIMA qualified
- Cost accounting a key strength
- At least five years' experience in management accounting or similar Finance role
- Experience or qualification specifically in manufacturing cost accounting
Skills
- In-depth knowledge of corporate finance and accounting principles, laws and best practices
- Solid knowledge of financial analysis and forecasting
- Good knowledge of a broad range of business types and diverse operations
- Good grasp of divisional and cross-border accounts and transfer pricing
- Proficient in the use of MS Office and financial management software (eg Sage)
- Strong knowledge of how to accurately calculate stock and WIP
- Knowledge of the building industry an advantage but not essential
- An analytical mind with a strategic ability
- Excellent organisational skills
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Ensuring that all required statutory returns are submitted accurately and on time
- Preparing monthly accounts: P+L, balance sheet, cashflow, NET61 reports
- Cash flow forecasts as required
- Present these reports with highlights/lowlights and recommendations at monthly/quarterly board meetings
- Preparing financial information as requested by external financial auditors and accountants
- Managing external accountants so deadlines are met
- Preparing financial reports as requested by the partners
- General bookkeeping and ledger responsibility, oversight and work as required
- Managing the everyday maintenance and HR for the staff on these functions, and reporting to the FD as required
- Managing the finance team to make sure that all aspects of the company's financial and credit control department are carried out accurately, efficiently and on-time
- Improving the company's financial reporting and control systems as necessary to provide faster and more accurate information.
- Using the financial information to make suggestions as to how the business performance can be improved.
