Role: Raw Materials Planner
Contract: Permanent
Salary: GBP22,000-GBP24,000 + Benefits
Location: Alfreton
The Candidate
You will be an experienced Materials Planner who has worked in the food industry. You will have the following skills, experiences and attributes???
*
Experience of working in the food production industry or with perishable goods
*
Strong language / communication skills with fluency in a minimum of English.
*
Must be able to analyze problems and complex situations in a structural manner.
*
Must be able to organize own work efficiently taken into account input/output from/to other functional areas, in a very dynamic environment.
*
Clear, assertive, patient, persuasive & fair with dealing with others
*
Remain calm and professional under pressure - cooperate in a positive way and be open for all potential solutions
*
Experience of working with ERP systems (knowledge of Baan a significant benefit).
*
Knowledge / experience of Inventory management systems is also preferred.
*
Good knowledge of Excel is an asset.
*
Must be able to see quickly through large amounts of information, assess different aspects of the situation and make a clear and correct judgment.
The Role
*
The Raw Materials Planner is balancing production requirements and raw materials inventory in a Make-to-Order environment. On one hand, the production requirements are based upon historical customer sales and future demand. On the other hand, the raw materials inventory is limited because of warehouse space restrictions and net working capital targets. Your main roles and responsibilities will include???
*
Expedite orders and reschedule raw materials to meet ever changing demands. Advise Planning & Customer Service daily of any missing raw materials and best delivery date provided by Supplier.
*
Print following reports daily, evaluate & take necessary action:
*
MRP Purchase Orders - highlights raw materials for MRP batches which take the value below the safety stock.
*
Re-Scheduling Messages - highlights raw materials on order but not being delivered in time to fulfil MRP batches.
*
SIC Orders - highlights raw materials which fall below reorder level. Highlight and deal with raw materials that need reorder levels and safety stock levels adjusting based on historical and forecasted usage.
*
Provide QC & Goods - In with Urgent List. Issue Collection Notes to transport. Record express transport costs and reason why.
*
External warehousing - ensure daily transfers from the external to the internal warehouse.
*
Continually review and improve suppliers' delivery performance and identifying ways to improve the company's capital position. In case of late deliveries, chase suppliers & raise complaints where necessary and reviewing suppliers delivery performance and work closely with Purchasing to improve poor performers.
*
Continually review ways and means to improve the company's Working Capital position by improving raw material inventory management, understanding supplier processes and using sales forecasts at raw material level to look forward.
*
Balance customer requirements and forecasts with historical data and available warehouse space to ensure the correct level of inventory. Monitor and review warehouse space utilization on raw materials to ensure that stock levels are within pre-agreed level.
*
Ensure and work closely with Sales and Suppliers on new product launches to ensure all raw materials are available for launch whilst minimising raw material exposure on de-lists.
*
Work closely with Purchasing and Product Development and Innovation when sourcing alternative raw materials in order to ensure customer delivery dates are met.
*
Attend monthly Slow Moving Stock meeting and work on alternative ways to reduce and minimise the exposure. Review monthly classification codes of raw materials using historical and forecasted information. Issue to Sales Authorisation Forms for unique and cautious (high value) raw materials.
*
Play a key role in supporting the initiatives and KPI targets set in Supply Chain; in particular for the Raw Materials Planner these are the Supplier OTIF, the days of coverage of raw materials, the % of slow moving stock of Net Sales and raw material dumps, and the Customer OTIF.
*
Take responsibility for any other projects outlined as well as cover holidays and sickness for other members of the Procurement & Planning Team
*
Alignment of and improvement of working practices with other European facilities is also part of the job.
*
Play a key role in supporting the initiatives and KPI targets set in Supply Chain; in particular for the Raw Materials Planner these are the Supplier OTIF, the days of coverage of raw materials, the % of slow moving stock of Net Sales and raw material dumps, and the Customer OTIF.
