We are looking for an inspirational and driven individual, with a ‘can do' attitude and collaborative approach. You will have experience in fundraising and bid writing across a broad range of income streams. You will have an excellent track record of achievement and setting income targets as well as experience in planning and implementing operational plans and ideas. You will have the confidence, commercial awareness and creativity to be able to develop new ways to expand income streams.

You will have a deep passion for the environment, Cornish communities, and creating lasting social change. It is a very exciting time for Urban Biodiversity with development of Newquay Orchard and various projects and programmes across the county. You will look to grow your role to fit with the rapid growth and expansion of the business.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • To maintain and develop working relationships with existing partner organisations and explore opportunities to bring new potential partners into the work of Urban Biodiversity CIC.
  • To liaise with other staff members to strategically manage and deliver projects.
  • To collaborate with existing and new partners to identify projects and work with them to deliver, monitor and evaluate these.
  • To liaise with the Finance officer, Operations Manager and Managing Director to plan and set budgets for projects, and to oversee efficient allocation and effective use of funds to ensure all activities are carried out within an agreed budget
  • To carry out regular and robust monitoring of projects to ensure quality delivery of outputs and activities; ensure effective evaluation of these projects through visits and reports from partners.
  • To report on the outcomes and impact of projects internally to assist with programme development and externally to project funders; and be ready to share this information with our volunteer and supporter base to raise awareness of our work.
  • To undertake other duties commensurate with the grade as required by the Operations Manager.
  • Develop projects to support local business growth and create new jobs.
  • Build partnerships with communities, business networks, local government and NGOs.
  • Bid for local, national and European funding.
  • Assist in setting up training schemes for local businesses and unemployed people.
  • Advise local businesses and community groups on the work of Urban Biodiversity CIC.
  • Promote the local area to attract new clients.
  • Work on neighbourhood renewal projects.
  • Organise stakeholder meetings and deliver presentations.

Skills and Abilities

Essential:

  • Degree level education or equivalent.
  • A demonstrable understanding of development issues in Cornwall.
  • An understanding of socio economic issues pertinent to Cornwall and how this impacts on livelihoods and income generation.
  • Experience of managing relationships with local, regional and national organisations
  • Knowledge of developing partnerships with other organisations.
  • The ability to analyse and present information clearly and experience of formulating project proposals.
  • Demonstrable ability to organise and prioritise workloads.
  • Extensive bid writing experience and a track record of success.
  • Demonstrable ability to communicate at a high level, both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrable ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative.
  • Basic budgetary skills and able to work within limited resources.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel .

Desirable:

  • Masters in Social Entrepreneurship, Economic development, Education, or a related field of study.
