Purpose of Role:
To service, maintain and repair light commercial vehicles, in line with manufacturers published guidance. Adhering to company policies and safe working practices for self and others, at all times.
Monitor, inspect and assess fleet condition and operation making suggestions for corrective action where appropriate.
Key Responsibilities:
Servicing maintenance and repair of light commercial vehicles, limiting costs of parts used and maximising first time fixes.
Diagnosing root cause of faults/defects and planning appropriate repairs to ensure vehicle downtime is minimised.
Keep up to date with manufacturer recommendations and customer requirements
To liaise with the central Fleet Management team and/or the service centre with regard to job start and completion times, downtime and overtime authorisation; cost updates and customer purchase orders.
Complete all relevant paperwork and on-line (mobile mechanic) requirements enabling central control and invoicing to maintain a high standard of customer interface ?????? keeping the customer informed of progress at all times.
Ensure relevant safety checks are carried out in the workshop on a daily basis.
Perform other duties and projects which correspond to the general character of the position.
Apprentices and or engineers in training (EIT) may be supervised where applicable.
Ensure customer service is a priority and conduct & corporate image (self, tools, spares) are first rate and beyond reproach.
Competencies:
Good mechanical knowledge of light commercial vehicles
Experience with auto electrics including wiring diagrams.
Excellent diagnostic and problem solving skills
Sound interpersonal and communication skills
Numerate, literate
Attention to detail and target driven
Ideally relevant, recognised qualification.
Prioritisation and Time management
Excellent earning potential with premium overtime and a realistic 10 hours per week available
