Pharmaceutical powerhouse is looking for a Human Factors Engineer ideally with exposure to the Medical Devices sector to join their rapidly expanding R&D function.

Role of the Human Factors Engineer

As a Human Factors Engineer, you will be an expert in Human Factors for medical device development. You will apply your knowledge and understanding of Human Factors principles, tools, methods and regulations to the design and evaluation of a range of products and projects, primarily in the drug delivery space.

Responsibilities of the Human Factors Engineer

Your key responsibility will be to always put the voice and needs of our users in the spotlight. You will do this by ensuring that the current product development process follows Human Factors best practice, to work as a project team member supporting multiple projects by designing and conducting use needs identification work, to understand future unmet needs within the health care environment and ensure that a knowledge of best practice is maintained.

You will lead the Human Factors for your projects throughout the product development process by:

* Design and plan HFE programmes for multiple projects
* Maintain Human Factors processes and procedures according to regulations and best practice
* Design and conduct Human Factors studies globally
* Select and manage human Factors consultants/consultancies where required
* Identify use needs and requirements
* Use risk identification, analysis and reporting
* Ensure any design is user-centered
* Ensure appropriate documentation for Human Factors are delivered
* Write Human Factors reports for design history files and submissions
* Work in close relationship with project leads, engineering, industrial design, quality, marketing and regulatory
* International travel will be required as part of the role

Requirements of the Human Factors Engineer

Skills:

* Ability to work in multiple projects in multi-disciplinary teams across multiple global locations.
* Natural curiosity about human behaviour, as well as cultural sensitivity and awareness for dealing with global customers, colleagues and suppliers.
* Excellent communication skills, both speech and writing.
* Passion for Human Factors and user research, and to educate the organization on these topics

Experience:

* A degree or higher in Human Factors, Ergonomics, Psychology, Usability, Industrial Design or other related field.
* Significant experience of product development, applying various human factors engineering principles and methodologies, user needs analysis and validation studies are required.
* Knowledge of Human factors standards, guidance and best practice, along with an understanding of device and drug/device combination regulatory requirements, as well as knowledge of consumer product design form concept to commercialization.
* Preferred experiences are proficiency in the creation of regulatory submission reports for medical devices and combination products, in-depth knowledge (through practical experience) of GMP, EU and FDA regulatory requirements.
