Picosecond Laser Development Engineer
Salary cGBP35k
Based Southampton, Hampshire
A Fibre Laser Engineer is required for a technology company based in the Southampton area. The company are a leading designer and manufacturer of fibre lasers utilised within a wide range of industries. The company are currently introducing key new products and this role is critical to the success of these implementations.
Key duties and responsibilities will include:
Production of laser / test systems to demonstrate feasibility and provide prototypes.
Design and implementation of lab-based optical experiments for the verification and validation lasers components and systems.
Work closely with NPI Engineering team to transfer systems/components to Production.
Undertake and achieve designated and agreed work schedules without close supervision.
Report status on a regular basis, making recommendations for resolution of any issues.
Contribute to the preparation of design briefs and technical specifications for future development programmes in line with customer and business requirements.
Undertake design analysis and documents for departmental reference.
Keep up to date with and ensure compliance with the relevant industrial standards and technical developments.
Visit customer and / or vendor sites as required.
Degree qualified in Physics or Engineering the successful candidate will ideally have two or more years experience in a technology development environment, ideally in picosecond laser design, development, manufacture / test. Your experience will be in either the high-power laser field or within a related industry, for example aerospace, industrial laser systems or telecomms. You will possess some knowledge and understanding of competitive technologies, performance critical requirements, and reliability
