The North York Moors National Park is one of the most beautiful landscapes in the UK with 23,000 residents and 7.6 million visitors per year. Our purposes are to ensure that the North York Moors retains its special qualities and to help the public enjoy and understand them.

Within this context a key challenge is to ensure that new development takes place without compromising these purposes and we need high quality people to help us do this.

This really is a once in a lifetime opportunity for a skilled and experienced Mineral Planner.

Sirius Minerals have planning permission for a world class project to build and operate a new Polyhalite mine at a site near Whitby.

Working to the Project Director, you’ll be responsible for leading our input into the development management service that will deal with planning and condition discharge applications, check compliance with plans and manage any issues arising from this.

As the lead planner, you’ll need to have some great skills and be able to demonstrate to us your;

  • Experience in dealing with major applications;
  • Ability to deliver on the ground on time and on budget;
  • Experience of working with communities on contentious projects;
  • Enthusiasm for protected landscapes and what makes them special.

You’ll find that you are working with skilled, dedicated and supportive colleagues; and there will be chance to take advantage of our excellent personal development and flexible working opportunities.

The National Park and surrounding area is a superb place to live and work with excellent schools and good access to main transportation links.

The post is based at the Authority’s Headquarters in the attractive town of Helmsley (market town of the year 2016).
