GBP30,004 per annum
This is an exciting opportunity to join the high profile European Commission funded project High End Climate Change Impacts and Extremes (HELIX) (). The Tyndall Centre within the University of East Anglia is seeking a person skilled both scientifically and technically to deliver projections of climate change impacts at different levels of global warming, using, and further developing, existing computer modelling tools and data. A key aspect of the work will involve simulating climate change impacts including, and excluding, various potential levels of adaptation to climate change. The work is expected to lead to a number of high profile journal publications to which the post holder would be expected to contribute. The post holder will run existing computer codes, post-process the results of simulations run by other team members, and assist with the display of outputs on a web application. Good technical (including basic GIS) and statistical skills are essential, including experience of regression or time series modelling. Ability to program in R, Python or Matlab is desirable. Previous experience of working on the science of climate change or climate change impacts is highly desirable. Ability to work both independently and as a member of team will be important.
You will have a PhD (or equivalent experience) in biological, physical or computer science, with a wide range of technical and data analyses skills, and be able to fulfil all essential elements of the person specification.
The full time post is available for a fixed term period from 1 February 2017 to 31 October 2017.
