This is your opportunity to be the Team Manager you want to be. You initially became a social worker to help change lives for the better - and do it to the best of your ability. So while we'll give you all the training and development opportunities you need, we know it's about much more than that. It's about having the time to really get to know your service users and understand the issues they face, and the autonomy to deliver creatively tailored solutions. That's why we're reshaping Adult Operations so that you can take a localised, community-focussed approach, you can spend less time travelling and more time doing the job you trained to do.

The Role

Team Managers are required to lead, motivate, nurture and manage a team consisting of Social Workers and Senior Practitioners, ensuring that the service provided is effective, and delivers positive outcomes. This is achieved by managing performance and quality assurance, resources and budgets in collaboration with others and key stakeholders.

Contributing and supporting the development of practice, procedures and policy and specifically the professional development of the team you lead is essential. You will be accountable for the practice of social workers within your team and providing or ensuring effective professional and practice supervision, as well as performance appraisals, takes place.

Providing support, mentoring and coaching to enhance the quality of practice of your team is required whilst seeking to ensure team experience influences and informs the work of the organisation and that of other service providers, supporting and managing change as needed within their area of responsibility.

Previous management experience within single or multi-professional teams is preferable.

The role requires you to be mobile throughout a wide operational area including travelling around the County of Essex and beyond, transporting service users and their belongings and to be able to do so in an emergency. Driving licence and car or ability to meet the mobility requirements of the role through other means is essential.

As part of employment with Essex County Council should your role require a DBS check you will be required to register with the DBS update service. The DBS update service ensures all registered DBS certificates are kept up to date and allows authorised parties to view the status of your certificate. This is an annual subscription and you will be responsible for ensuring this is maintained. For further information on the DBS update service please visit:
