Taylor & Francis Group, a leading international academic publishing company, currently have an exciting opportunity for a Managing Editor for Arts and Design (Maternity Cover) to join their Journals Editorial team. This role requires a proactive approach to journals management, development and growth.
This is an exciting and varied role involving active portfolio management, working with prestigious academic editors, attending international conferences and contributing towards acquiring and starting journals as part of the lists strategic development.
Key Responsibilities:
Acquisition and list management
Building strong and lasting relationships with a global group academic editors and also learned societies
Overseeing the financial well-being of the list of journals as well as preparing financial projections and proposals
Editorial Development and support
Realising opportunities for organic growth
Preparing and making presentations at editorial board meetings
Representing Taylor & Francis Group at international conferences
Ensuring that existing publishing contracts are renewed
Working collaboratively with internal colleagues
Knowledge and Skills Required:
Sound commercial awareness as well as knowledge and experience of the academic Journals market
The ability to demonstrate how new business plans would be developed
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Good time management and organisational skills
The ability to meet sometimes stretching deadlines
The ability to use the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Some travel to conferences, both internationally and within the UK, may be required.
Interviews for this role will take place in early January.
