Our company client is a globally extended General Insurance business who are currently looking to appoint a driven and highly skilled Senior Pricing Personal Lines Actuary for their Dublin office. The successful applicant will be working under the direction of the Head of EMEA Head of Personal Lines Pricing - provide pricing expertise to EMEA Management and Business Units within EMEA.
CORE ASPECTS OF THE ROLE INCLUDE:
Segment
* Support development of Pricing & Underwriting Strategy for Personal Lines in EMEA
* Lead and provide expertise to designated Personal Lines projects
* Certification of Technical Price at a portfolio level for Personal Lines
* Technical Underwriting reviews for Personal Lines
Business Unit
* Relating to specific Business Unit(s)
* Focal point & coordination for individual BU engagement with Regional / Global team
* Provide inputs & insights to support activities relating to the Performance Management Framework e.g. Underwriting Performance Reviews, Global Profitability Reviews, Financial Planning
Lateral
* Coordinate the activity or develop expertise across specific cross segment / BU topics such as: Technical Price Certification, Metrics, Strategic Projects, Training
Major duties for this job will cover:
* Deliver high quality actuarial service to the business
* Support consistent pricing practices, methodologies through strategic leadership and the delivery of pricing services
* Support the capture of granular data suitable for the continuous pricing improvement process.
* Enhance the organisational brand, market opportunities, and profitable growth through supporting the pricing and rating of new/revised products and propositions.
* Support the continuous enhancement of the actuarial talent within the region, through training and mentoring.
RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal
* Business Unit /Region Chief Pricing Actuaries, Chief Underwriting Officers, and Line of Business Heads & their teams
* Leadership and collaboration across teams (including virtual teams) to support Business Units focus & business results
* Line Manager - reporting
External
* Links with the external environment from both a professional actuarial perspective and an economic/regulatory perspective
TRAVEL & OTHER REQUIREMENTS
* Some business travel will be required. This will vary from time to time dependent on the nature of the activities underway and their scope.
* Visits to countries in accordance with executing on accountabilities
* Actuarial meetings, internal and external
* Team meetings
Background, abilities and skill set required:
* Fully qualified actuary (per local society)
* At least 5 years of experience in a non-life actuarial environment.
* Effective collaboration across a range of Stakeholders within and external to the actuarial function. Experience of leading teams will be distinct advantage.
* Exhibits self-motivation and drive; takes initiative without the need for approval.
* Highly professional, enthusiastic and positive attitude.
* Competent at prioritizing, resourcing and planning.
* Effective communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to handle complexity and distil out and explain key concepts.
* International pricing experience will be a distinct advantage.
KNOWLEDGE:
* Knowledge of the insurance industry's trends, directions, major issues, regulatory considerations and trendsetters.
* Knowledge, insight, and understanding of business concepts, tools, and processes that are needed for making sound decisions in the context of the company's business; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.
* Familiarity with actuarial professional guidance and relevant legislation.
* Familiarity with finance and accounting practices, financial analysis, and reporting; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
* Expert knowledge of the techniques and concepts behind Insurance rating & pricing
* Expert knowledge of statistical and actuarial tools and techniques and ability to apply modelling processes and techniques to facilitate risk management decisions.
* Working knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis and the ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve the problems in the best interest of the business.
* Knowledge of the insurance industry's trends, directions, major issues, regulatory considerations and trendsetters.
* Proficiency in English with a preference for proficiency in at least one other language.
