Our client is an accommodation based refugee resettlement service and training provider with a subsidiary Training Centre. Due to ambitious growth plans, they are now looking for a Trainer/Assessor to join their team.

Key Purpose of the Role (to be reviewed annually)
To train, support and assess the knowledge and occupational competence of learners working towards the achievement of any Health and Social Care Qualifications.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Train, support and assess training programmes such as NVQ qualifications and QCF qualifications and stand-alone units from entry level to level 4,
  • The establishing and thereafter the maintaining of an effective partnership with employers and learners that promotes the achievement of their learner's qualifications and programmes within the agreed timescale.
  • Establishing of a safe working environment for any potential learner at an employer site, and thereafter when the learner is on their training programme, carry out the regular monitoring of the learners workplace that ensures a continued safe learning environment
  • Compliance with SFA, FE Partners, and other authorities with respect to policy and procedure associated with Teaching, learning and assessment.
  • Compliance with SFA and Awarding Organisation with respect to administration documentation
  • Management of own continual professional development to ensure currency with your chosen area of occupation
  • The performing of other duties within the general nature of your role.

Specific Duties

  • The accurate and full completion of learner start, review and completion paperwork.
  • Administer and mark initial assessments when required to do so
  • Complete Awarding Organisation documents related to qualification registration and achievement
  • The development of individual learning plans for each learner that fully supports the agreed timescales of either their NVQ or qualification or the individual elements or overall programme.
  • Maintain records of individual learner progress by way of regular progress reviews in line with our clients and SFA guidelines
  • Manage your own diary so that you effectively support your caseload of learners from start to finish of their training programmes
  • Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with your learners and employers
  • Demonstrate a proactive approach to minimising any barriers to your learners by implementing additional support in a timely manner that promotes their achievement.
  • Contribute to the overall team performance by way of suggestions and recommendations to enhance the quality of delivery and support
  • Manage your own continuous professional competence by undertaking training or activities
  • Support of learner recruitment by assisting with the carrying out of initial assessment and induction sessions

Other

  • To undertake any further training as identified in the companies review procedures.
  • To participate fully in all Quality Procedures.
  • Ensure that safe working practices are followed in respect of COSHH and other Risk Assessment control measures.
  • To comply with and promote our client's Health and Safety policies and take appropriate responsibility to ensure the health and safety of self and others.
  • To understand, comply with and promote the companies Safeguarding policy and procedures.
  • To understand, comply with and promote the companies Diversity policies and procedures.
  • To engage in continuous professional development.
  • Must be prepared to undertake a First Aid qualification and be a first aider.

Candidate Requirements:
The key skills and core competencies required for this role are:

Essential:

  • Level 4 NVQ Diplomain relevant field
  • To hold a Literacy and Numeracy qualification to Level 2 (GCSE A-C)
  • Experience of working in a occupationally relevant environment
  • To be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications e.g. Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and other bespoke packages.
  • Have the ability to set up various monitoring reports using IT applications
  • High level of customer focus
  • High level of communication skills both verbal and written
  • Proactive approach to problem solving
  • Excellent work ethic and able to work using own initiative
  • Ability to handle confidential situations with tact and diplomacy
  • Good level of ICT skills
  • Good team player who support others
  • Have an understanding of and be able to demonstrate a commitment to Equal Opportunities and Diversity;
  • Satisfactory Enhanced DBS clearance
  • Be able to display an awareness, understanding and commitment to the protection and safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults.

Desirable:

  • Previous attainment of Assessor Award (D32/33/A1/TAQA)
  • Previous attainment of Internal Verifier Award (D34/V1)
  • Previous support of learners working towards single qualifications or NVQs
