Job Description New Directions Social Care are rapidly expanding and are seeking experienced Mental Health and Learning Disability workers to undergo ongoing contracts in the Somerset area. Highbridge is a particular area where we are seeking staff; we are working with a national organisation that provides support to individuals with a learning disability in a range of services to include supported living and residential care. The role offers itself to flexible working or fixed long term contracts and can offer a variety of shifts that include days, evenings, weekends, sleep, waking and split shifts. The hourly rate is up to ??9.00 per hour and the opportunity to work as an addition to a stable staff team that support and embrace additional team members. You will have had 6 months paid or 12 months voluntary experience within the social care sector and have a genuine passion for delivering quality support. New Directions prides themselves on ensuring our staff are fully informed of their duties when on shift and ensure that they have access to us 24/7 for any help, support or guidance needed. We work closely and in partnership with our clients and staff to ensure that the service user, client and yourself have a positive experience which results in repeat bookings. We have immediate interviews available and also have a remote interview facility enabling us to interview you at a time and place convenient to you. IntroductionMental Health Support Workers carry out varied roles within the community supporting adults and children with mental health issues. It may be necessary to work shifts, which may include nights and weekends. Part-time and full-time opportunities are available. It is imperative that Mental Health Support workers pass a police check via the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). Clients in the sector often also request the following training of employees: Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults (SOVA)Manual HandlingBasic First Aid It may be necessary to have an NVQ level 2 or 3, or to be working towards a relevant NVQ. For some roles it may be essential to have a particular qualification, such as an NVQ in Health & Social Care level 3. Job OverviewDepending on the specific vacancy or environment, a support worker may work within a residential home, day care centre or visit the service user at home. The support worker will enable and support the service user to overcome difficulties and support them in living as independently as possible.
