The Role: An exciting opportunity has been created for an experienced Production Cost Controller to join our company to control product costs whilst supporting continuous improvement in the IT, purchasing, stock management, quality and manufacturing areas. This role is ideal for a highly organised and numerate individual with previous manufacturing experience who wants to make a significant impact on cost control and contribute to successful business outcomes. The Company: West Design Products are a family-owned and run company, proud to be based in the UK. Employing more than 120 people across two premises - HQ and Warehouse in Folkestone, Kent, and manufacturing division in Plymouth, Devon. Working with over 20,000 different products at any given time. We are a fast-growing manufacturer, importer, distributor and wholesaler of well-known toys, art and craft, education and stationery products. Responsibilities: • Accurately estimate all production costs in a timely fashion • Report on areas of concern and in need of improvement • Create logical system of work and update existing works orders into one online format • Produce regular management information as agreed with the Financial Controller and Senior Management Team • Liaise across all functions and develop positive working relationships • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the business, with particular regards cost control, optimisation of current and future IT resources and waste reduction Requirements: To be considered for this role you must be a hardworking and personable self-starter with experience of estimating production costs and creating works orders. Liaising with sales, purchasing and senior management in order to stay on top of orders, materials and overheads will be essential. Determined and resilient, capable of developing and implementing processes from scratch. Confident and articulate and able to manage expectations. Must work in an organised manner, creating a clear audit trail and working to developing KPIs. Other attributes to include: • Good standard of Secondary Education • Highly numerate with sound administration skills • IT and MS Office proficient, with excellent Excel skills/knowledge • Experience of creating works orders and estimating costs, ideally in a manufacturing environment • Manufacturing and Production experience • Ability to hit the ground running • Organised, methodical with precise attention to detail for financial/cost reporting • Team player with can do attitude and ability to work across all the functional areas of the business • Familiar with Pegasus Opera or similar stock management and accounting software, if not training will be provided Please apply today or contact recruitment@westdesignproducts.co.uk for more information.
