Residential Childcare Worker

A vacancy exists for a temporary residential childcare worker to cover a period of maternity leave for one year.

The successful applicant should have experience working with young people aged between 11 and 17 who have social, emotional and behavioural difficulties and who are unable to live in a family setting. Applicants should preferably possess HNC/SVQ3 qualifications. However, training and access to qualifications will be provided for the right applicant with the personal qualities and skills that make them the right person for this post.

A sense of humour is a must and applicants need to be patient, understanding and tolerant, but also have the ability to be firm and consistent. Above all they need to care about young people and want to help them develop to the best of their abilities.

The successful applicant will join a team of established residential workers who provide care in a 5 bedded unit. Each shift is covered by a team of 3 care workers and the shift pattern is 6 on followed by 3 off, on an early/late basis.

A full driving licence is essential and two references will always be taken up. A Disclosure check will be carried out and the successful applicant will need to be registered with SSSC or be prepared to do so.

The company offers access to a pension scheme and there are 28 days holiday per year. Overtime is paid at time and a half.
