Our Client is a large, and growing, specialist land-based College, with centres throughout Yorkshire, Cumbria and the Tees Valley.

They now have an opportunity available for a Research Officer to join them to organise and complete the collection of farm accounts scheduled by the Head of Unit within the contracted dates and times specified.

Analysing and preparing farm data for the calculation of farm income statistics, gross and net margins and other appropriate performance valuations, you will undertake report writing both in terms of producing feedback to farmers and contributing to Unit publications; planning and organising farm visits in a cost efficient manner. 

Collecting and completing a pre-determined number of annual management accounts to the standard required in the Defra Farm Business Survey manual (include the recruitment of a proportion of new cooperators each year), you must accept full responsibility for the safe custody and return of cooperator business records e.g. bank statements, cheque books, invoices, sales notes and all other documents loaned by the cooperator for full account completion.    

Educated to degree level, HND and/or equivalent in Agriculture, Agricultural Economics or other relevant subject, you must have knowledge of agriculture and strong interpersonal skills.  Willing to work flexibly in a team, you should have strong numerical skills and the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.  Any experience in survey methods and of report writing would be beneficial but is not essential.
