Retail Finance Manager
Scunthorpe
Full-time/Permanent
Salary £45k+ plus car allowance/pension/benefits

Job Purpose:
Qualified accountant to support on retail performance. Key deliveries would be significantly better understanding of the levers that affect member performance, push hard to implement changes to improve member performance and help identify truly loss making members.
Reports to: Financial Controller

Key Result Areas:
* Reporting to executive management on a wide range of areas including but not restricted to: Sales, Rebates to members, Business unit and member profitability and own brand performance.
* Providing insight and high quality commentary for executive management and also retail field teams
* To operate balance sheet controls over rebates to a high standard
* Manage the rebate appeal process
* Communicate clearly to all stakeholders
* Lead projects including to:
­ Understand the key drivers of the business and work to improve reporting and business behaviours.
­ Review internal processes and suggest, agree and implement improvements

Job Knowledge:
* Good knowledge of retail business operations
* Experience at middle management level in Accounting.
* Strong Excel skills.
* Good overall IT skills and systems knowledge.

Specific Areas of work:
* Reporting to executive management
­ -Preparing weekly sales reports
­ -Preparing periodic reports on business units and member performance
­ -Preparing quarterly reports for in depth reviews
* Providing insight and high quality commentary for executive management and also retail field teams
­ -Quick commentary on the weekly performance
­ -More detailed commentaries on the whole retail picture each month
­ -Providing clear guidance to the field teams as to key areas of focus
­ -Contribute to the better understanding of our retail performance, the key drivers and what actions might be taken to improve
* To operate balance sheet controls over rebates to a high standard
­ -Complete a balance sheet reconciliation each period
­ -Anticipate the level of rebate charge that is necessary
* Manage the rebate appeal process
­ -Ensure that appeals are presented each week in a clear fashion, complete with financial impact
* Lead projects:
­ -Review internal processes and suggest, agree and implement improvements
* Communicate clearly
­ -Contribute to the management of the finance department.
­ -Proactive building of relationships with field teams and members
­ -Safe pair of hands under pressure

Job Skills andCompetencies:
* Qualified Accountant by relevant qualification (ACCA or equivalent) (or by experience)
* Good technical, database and numeracy skills.
* Good interpersonal skills to organise the department to meet with tight deadlines.
* Ability to communicate at all levels.
* Ability to delegate where necessary.
* Ability to maintain and develop relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
