JOB TITLE: Mathematics Graduate Learning Support Assistant

SALARY & BENEFITS: GBP12, 978.26 to GBP13,737.02 Actual Salary pa

WORKING HOURS: Temporary Contract subject to Pupil Premium Funding - 37 hours per week (Term Time only + 5 Inset days)

THE ROLE:
Our Prescot based secondary school are recruiting a Mathematics Graduate Learning Support Assistant.
This a critical position and impacts directly on the experience of our students, You will deliver one to one intervention in Mathematics and provide the information needed to help pinpoint where students need the most help, with a focus on key stage 4 students in their GCSE mathematics education.

You will be highly educated within Mathematics, at degree level or further education level, with impeccable personal and communicational skills to work on a one-on-one basis with vulnerable youth or special needs students.

As a Mathematics Graduate Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with the highly successful Mathematics team, the main focus of your work will be to maximise progress of identified students and build their confidence in Mathematics.

Key Responsibilities of a Mathematics Graduate Learning Support Assistant officer to include:-
  • Discusses with, and reports back to the teacher on students' progress
  • Order or obtain materials needed for classes and students
  • Deliver one to one intervention in Mathematics
  • Asses where students need the most help
  • Works as part of a team to ensure the well being, behaviour and personal development of pupils enhances their learning opportunities and life skills

THE CANDIDATE:
The successful individual for the Mathematics Graduate Learning Support Assistant will be a dynamic people-person who is passionate about Mathematics. It is not necessary to have worked in a school but the desire to want to is. You will be patient, calm but firm with the ability to communicate at different levels to suit the students needs and understanding.

Key experience essential for Mathematics Graduate Learning Support Assistant the role:
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills - written and verbal
  • Hold a degree or higher education qualification in Mathematics,
  • Teaching Assistant/Learning Support qualification at NOV Level 2 would be an advantage but not essential.
  • Foundation Certificate of Professional Practice for Teaching Assistants would be an advantage but not essential
  • Able to plan and prioritise tasks
  • Able to clarify and explain instructions to pupils
  • Able to motivate pupils to learn
  • First aid and child protection certificates would be an advantage but not essential
