Job Description

Programming intern required to work as part of a friendly team on a number of mini-projects including adding some small new features to our existing systems and to fix a number of bugs in our legacy PHP systems. This is an opportunity for university graduates to gain relevant experience working with programming languages and applications such as PHP, SQL, HTML, CSS, Javascript and AJAX. You need to be willing to muck in with technical support, although this isn't the main focus of the role.

The position would fit in well to go alongside your studies (ideally working a minimum of 16 hours a week). Varying contract length possible. There is a good possibility of a further, long-term contract if desired.

Minimum Application Requirement

  • Skill set: PHP | SQL | HTML | CSS | JavaScript | AJAX
  • GCSE Maths grade B + GCSE English grade B
  • Computing/Programming-related degree or equivalent
  • Some experience demonstrating coding ability

Additional Desirable Attributes

  • Paid experience
  • Experience with ASP
  • Strong communication skills
  • A Level grade A or B in Computing or a scientific/technical subject such as Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Economics or Latin
  • Notable experience, or some paid experience with qualifications demonstrating coding ability

  • Highly concise and methodological working habits, including reporting and documenting methods to ensure confidence in the final outcome of the projects
  • Attention to detail – to identify potential errors or omissions
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently in accordance with project briefs and set timescales
