My client works within the busy utility connections industry and has offices in Gloucestershire, Essex and Cambridgeshire and they are looking to recruit a Gas Design Engineer.
You will be responsible for design and estimating of new gas networks (including mains and services) to supply new Domestic, Industrial and Commercial developments. You will be designing gas networks to GDNO and IGT specifications for adoption. The role will also include technical and/or operational support to both internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
*Administration of the day-to-day pre-contract design and quotation function ensuring key objectives and targets are met.
*Collate all essential pre-contract information to facilitate cost effective utility infrastructure designs in readiness for a commercial proposal.
*Identify and process Point of Connections from upstream network operators.
*Identify and raise Asset Values (where applicable)
*Identify off-site requirements i.e. excavations' in public highways and identify where Section 50 (off-site) licences are required and collate the licence fee costs from the local authority.
*Provide project related advice and technical support to both internal and external stakeholders
*To collate and present awarded contracts for design, adoption and to liaise with the adoptee (Gas, Water and/or Electric) to ensure design approval and adoption is achievable.
*To manage and update relevant databases for a portfolio of projects.
*Assist with new business initiatives in conjunction with colleagues in other departments.
*To gather, prepare and report management information when required to do so.

Experience:
*Relevant experience working in a Gas Design / Estimating environment.
*Understanding of the Lloyds GIRS requirements
*Member of a professional body - i.e. Institute of Gas Engineers and Manager i.Eng or Eng.Tec or working toward I.Eng
*Educated to degree or ONC/HND level in a Mechanical Engineering discipline.
*Understanding of CDM awareness
*Knowledge of Gas Transporter policies and procedures
*CAD qualification and/or experience desirable (2D)
*A comprehensive understanding of standard Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel and Outlook).

May consider applicants who are qualified/registered with Gas Safe and are familiar with meter installations and installations downstream of the meter and who can adapt to estimating and design upstream of the meter
