Our client a leading social housing provider currently has a vacancy for a National Careers Service Advisor to join their team based in Bristol

 

Main Purpose of the Role:

To provide career advice and guidance to the organisation and local community groups using a variety of methods to support customers through to a job or learning outcome. The post holder will also be a member of training team who is responsible for quality teaching and learning and supporting the raising of standards in accordance with the Aims and Strategic Objectives of the organisation

 

Principal Accountabilities:

 

  • Provide careers advice to adults via a range of methods including face to face; telephone; email; group work and other digital means to help them to achieve work or learning goals.
  • Support customers to develop career management skills through a range of activities.
  • Work with customers to support their progression into learning, work or work progression.
  • Work with a variety of organisations to generate referrals to meet targets.
  • Deliver workshops to community groups to support them on the path to learning or employment.
  • Record all interactions with customers in a timely manner to meet contract deadlines.
  • Operate from a variety of locations.
  • Meet all standards for quality of service; safeguarding, information and data security, and any other contract requirements.
  • Represent and Promote the organisation in a professional and commercial manner and build positive working relationships.
  • Attend meetings and training as required.
  • Ensure adherence to the company's equalities and diversity policy and actively embed equality and diversity into careers advice and guidance and all delivery activity.
  • Other duties commensurate with the level and nature of the post.

 

Candidate Requirements:

 

The key skills and core competencies required for this National Careers Service Advisor role are:

Essential:

  • Level 4 or higher qualification in relevant field.
  • Experience in delivery of careers advice to adults, individually or in groups, employed and unemployed.
  • Experience of working in an occupationally relevant environment.
  • To be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications e.g. Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and other bespoke packages.  Have the ability to set up various monitoring reports using IT applications.
  • High level of customer focus.
  • High level of communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Excellent work ethic and able to work using own initiative.
  • Ability to handle confidential situations with tact and diplomacy.
  • Good level of ICT skills.
  • Good team player who support others.
  • Have an understanding of and be able to demonstrate a commitment to Equal Opportunities and Diversity.
  • Be able to display an awareness, understanding and commitment to the protection and safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults.
  • Satisfactory Enhanced DBS clearance.
  • Information, Advice or Guidance (IAG) qualification.
