Senior Supply Chain Sourcing Manager - IT & Digital

As Senior Supply Chain Sourcing Manager for IT & Digital you'll be responsible for making sure that Sainsbury's Bank achieves best value from its external expenditure for IT & Digital services.


provide visible commercial leadership across the Bank to help business stakeholders deliver their strategic objectives
deliver exceptional procurement services through the application of best practice procurement strategies and strong supply market knowledge
seek financial value from supplier relationships, either at RFP stage or through Continuous Improvement activities throughout the supplier lifecycle
develop, implement and embed category management strategies ensuring buy-in from senior stakeholders
manage supplier segmentation and coordination of due diligence across the key risk policy areas of the Bank
lead all contracts through the appropriate governance approval process including the writing and presentation of Board/committee Papers
drive collaboration with JS colleagues through the sharing of knowledge, development of common sourcing strategies and achieving economy of scale
ensure the effective mobilisation of suppliers by completing thorough handovers of contracts, commercial arrangements and risks to Relationship Owners and other relevant stakeholders
identify and mitigate key supplier risks
facilitate the appropriate set up of new suppliers on to the Bank's Your Purchasing system
undertake a rigorous assessment of Requisitions received by Supply Chain Sourcing for Quality Assurance
provide guidance in the Your Purchasing Quality Assurance process
embed the Risk Management Framework within Supply Chain Sourcing, ensuring it operates and is controlled within SB risk appetite
ensure compliance with Sainsbury's Bank policies, procedures, guidelines and reporting requirements as well as any relevant regulatory and statutory requirements
lead capability development of the Supply Chain Sourcing function through the delivery of Continuous Improvement initiatives
represent Supply Chain Sourcing and/or Supply Chain Management in cross-functional working groups.
lead and mentor Supply Chain Sourcing colleagues
accurate and timely maintenance of Supply Chain Sourcing reporting tools
active and rigorous management of Supply Chain Sourcing key risk controls

You'll bring:

exceptional procurement-related skill set (including sourcing, supplier management principles, supply market analysis and contract negotiation)
leading and driving major strategic sourcing projects of GBP10-GBP20m+ annual contract value
experience of delivering material outsource relationships (as defined by SYSC8)
capable of leading detailed contract negotiations with limited legal support and where necessary providing challenging direction
excellent understanding of the business environment in which the Bank operates and of industry best practice
strong knowledge and experience of IT Procurement specialisms (Hardware, Software, Infrastructure etc.)
deep knowledge and experience of ITO/BPO sourcing and contracting processes
experience of, or exposure to, procurement of digital toolsets and enabling technology
degree qualified and/or with suitable professional qualification (e.g. CIPS)
exceptional communicating, negotiating and influencing skills with the resilience and ability to operate at an executive level
experience of working in the Financial Services sector is highly desirable
experience in leading multi-functional cross business teams
ability to review and analyse key external trends and influences to ensure that a wide range of information is used to support the development of category strategies in line with the planned overall business direction
experience of complex negotiations and ability to demonstrate strong negotiations skills
ability to build strong working relationships with senior stakeholders and key suppliers
strong awareness and preferably experience of the control environment within a financial services organisation
strong awareness and understanding core due diligence policy areas (e.g. InfoSec, BCM, Financial Health and Conduct Risk) in order to engage constructively with and challenge policy owners
experience in procurement / sourcing role is preferred, experience in wider supply chain management roles would also be desirable
track record in mentoring and developing more junior members of the Supply Chain Sourcing team
