We have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Procurement to join our team based in Witham. The successful candidate will join us on a full time, permanent basis and will receive a competitive salary with attractable benefits.

About the Head of Procurement role

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Head of procurement and supply chain, working for a market leading Dental Company, who will hold responsibility for overseeing the management of all procurement related disciplines and contribute in the execution of the full end to end supply chain strategy. As the Head of procurement and supply chain, you will manage teams from procurement across multiple business units, ensuring robust processes exists to facilitate adherence to business requirements, to drive cost down initiatives and to control the risks associated with a diverse supplier base.

Key Responsibilities of our Head of Procurement:

- Develop procurement, category and supplier relationship management strategies

- Represent the commercial interests of the business in securing further high value and profitable supplier agreements

- Reduce procurement costs without compromising quality / delivery

- Ensure early procurement engagement with NPI activities

- Foster effective internal stakeholder relationships with operations, sales, marketing and finance

- Drive a culture of continuous improvement, and LEAN thinking

- Full P&L accountability for procurement and the development of strategy, budgetary and operational performance measures.

- Provide support to functional team through learning opportunities, development and mentoring

- Lead on compliance on internal policies and procedures ensuring commercial best practice

- Review and report on procurement KPIs to senior management

- Background in healthcare wholesaling or comparable industry experience

- Able to engage and influence senior external supplier management teams and conduct in depth negotiations concerning price, service, assurance of supply, quality, innovation and regulatory requirements

- Experience of formulating, implementing and managing compliance to fully comprehensive sourcing strategies as well as being able to manage operational aspects of ordering stock within required performance parameters

- Able to conduct in depth internal discussions concerning pricing and pricing theory, category financial performance, investment buying, foreign exchange risk

- MCIPS or equivalent qualification by experience

What we’re looking for in our Head of Procurement

- Strategic procurement expertise within a healthcare industry

- Excellent knowledge and expertise in effective supply chain management

- Experience using category management, and modern supplier relationship management tools

- Previous experience in a managerial and senior leadership role

- Ability to communicate effectively across different levels in the business

- Balance short and long-term views to help deliver value to the business

- Ability to network and build key relationships to enhance effectiveness

- Excellent negotiator with ability to lead key negotiations at a senior level

- A strong leader, able to inspire and motivate a team

Desirable Requirements

- Professionally recognised purchasing qualification (MCIPS)

- International procurement experience
