Fircroft is a residential college occupying a former Cadbury family home, set in six acres of beautiful grounds in Selly Oak, Birmingham. We were originally founded to provide educational opportunities for some of the most disadvantaged and excluded members of society.
One hundred years on from the birth of Fircroft College, its mission of 'social justice' is more relevant than ever. Fircroft is a thriving College with a vast and diverse community of learners.
Over the coming year, we are embarking on an exciting phase of improvement and development. We are seeking to appoint a Facilities Team Leader to be responsible for all aspects of safety and upkeep of the College's premises and grounds.
You will also have responsibility as the Chair of the Health and Safety Committee ensuring a proactive approach to all Health & Safety matters regarding staff, students and visitors to the College.
You will manage the maintenance, garden, utilities and caretaking staff and budgets and be responsible for implementing, reviewing and monitoring the success of all Health & Safety policies and ensuring that emergency plans are up to date.
To be considered for this role you must have experience of facility management, policy development and implementation. You will need to have excellent awareness of Health and Safety issues affecting premises and people and have a good understanding of the COSHH regulations, Equality Act 2010, Safeguarding and 'Prevent' legislation and also be willing to study for an Health & Safety qualification.
The right person will be someone who enjoys working at a fast pace with a variety of different tasks, who is self-managed with a strong work ethic, who has a positive outlook and a 'can do' attitude and is a completer / finisher.
