Detail Designer - (2D Auxiliary)

A Detail Designer with 2D Auxiliary experience within Shipbuilding is required to work on a six month contract (with the possibility of extension) for our defence client based in Glasgow.

This is a 6 month contract with a leading UK defence company.

Overview of the Detail Designer contract role

This is a dual role that involves both the update of Foran 2D intelligent schematics and support to the Auxiliary Systems Principal MAIT in his duties managing the interface between Stage 1 and Stage 2 Design Teams. This will typically include:

  • Update of Auxiliary Systems 2D schematics as required following approval of system Change Requests
  • Assist Principal MAIT PoC represent Stage 1 Marine Systems in the ships Major Area Integration Team organisation.
  • Provide and support resolution to known and arising design issues.
  • Expedite queries and issue resolution related to function/discipline responsibility
  • Progressively survey the evolving design, providing functional/discipline assessment

Key skills required for the Electrical Engineer (PMS - Shipbuilding)

  • Knowledgeable and experienced Marine systems engineer with a Detail Design piping background working in 2D/3D modelling tools.
  • Experience of working in a Partnering or Collaborate environment.
  • Knowledgeable on the engineering, construction & testing employed on Naval Ships.

The role is based in Glasgow - Commutable from Scotstoun, Kilmarnock, Paisley, Greenock, Stirling and Falkirk with excellent access from Edinburgh.
