Benefits Officer (Corporate Services Directorate, Revenues & Benefits Service)
Salary: Grade 5 £20,456 to £23,166 (Bar at £22,434) per annum
Location: Alexandra House, Moss Lane East, Manchester, M15 5NX
Hours: 35 per week
We are recruiting Benefits Officers for our Benefits Service. This is a demanding role requiring the ability to assess claims for Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support accurately and promptly. Most customer contact is in writing with an element of telephone contact.
We want to hear from you if you have good attention to detail, are able to learn and apply complex guidance and procedures, and want to deliver excellent customer service to Manchester residents in a high profile service area.
Candidates will receive full classroom based training for six weeks before moving onto a processing team where ongoing guidance and support will be provided. Further classroom based training will be delivered as you progress as a Benefits Officer.
As part of the Revenues and Benefits Service, successful candidates will benefit from a generous flexitime scheme. We are based at Alexandra House in Hulme, Manchester, where local amenities include a leisure centre, supermarket and free security controlled parking.
Shortlisted candidates will be required to take a computer based test for numeracy and literacy. Tests will be held on Friday 6, Saturday 7, and Monday 9 January 2017.
The role requires a Baseline Personal Security Standard (BPSS) check prior to confirming appointment. If you are selected for interview you will be asked to complete a BPSS form and provide identification, or bring your current certificate with you.
