The Island Free School is an extremely successful and popular secondary school based in Ventnor on the Isle of Wight. Our school is highly academic and all pupils follow the English Baccalaureate, with GCSE programmes of study in all subject areas.  The school, which was created by parents and teachers, opened to year 7 pupils in 2014 and we continue to grow by one cohort each year.  Our model has proved very popular with Island families and we are heavily over-subscribed in all year groups.

Over the past three years we have built a highly effective teaching team with a shared passion to create an extraordinary school for Island families. Our school has a specialism in music and all pupils are given free music tuition and instruments in key stage 3. At the end of each day all pupils and staff engage in a wide range of creative and sporting activities as part of our enrichment programme.

In September 2017 we will open our doors to our fourth cohort and we are looking for qualified colleagues to join our exceptional teaching team in a range of subjects.

As our GCSE offer grows we encourage secondary teachers of all subjects to apply and would be especially interested in hearing from colleagues in the following areas:

  • Mathematics
  • English
  • Science
  • Latin
  • French
  • History
  • Geography
  • Art
  • Design Technology
  • Physical Education

These posts are open to newly qualified and more experienced, qualified colleagues. The ability to offer a second subject at key stage 3 would be significant advantage.

Successful candidates can expect balanced teaching loads, high quality professional development, potential for career advancement, competitive salaries and the opportunity to enjoy coming to work each day.

Closing date for applications is 3rd January 2017, we look forward to receiving your application.
