Head of Year
The Island Free School is an extremely successful and popular secondary school based in Ventnor on the Isle of Wight. Our school is highly academic and all pupils follow the English Baccalaureate, with GCSE programmes of study in all subject areas. The school, which was created by parents and teachers, opened to year 7 pupils in 2014 and we continue to grow by one cohort each year. Our model has proved very popular with Island families and we are heavily over-subscribed in all year groups.
The Governors, Leadership team and staff of The Island Free School seek to appoint a Head of Year to take responsibility for the academic and pastoral development of our 2017 cohort.
Applicants will be expected to have a proven track record in middle/senior leadership and have the appropriate skills to lead on the development of this vital area. The successful candidate will be given the opportunity to have a role in the development of our extraordinary secondary school. The right candidate must have the subject knowledge to develop an outstanding curriculum that inspires our pupils.
Central to the role will be ensuring the pastoral and academic progress and attainment of each pupil in the year group. We would be extremely interested to hear from colleagues with experience in leading or supporting the Duke of Edinburgh award.
The successful candidate can expect a balanced teaching load, high quality professional development, opportunities for career advancement, a competitive salary and the opportunity to enjoy coming to work each day.
The closing date for applications is 3rd January 2017 at 6pm, we look forward to hearing from you.
