An exciting opportunity to contribute to our award winning business
Alphabet is Europe’s leading provider of Business Mobility services; helping organisations meet their changing business travel requirements and enabling their employees to keep moving efficiently and effectively.  It’s an exciting place to be and we are looking for a brilliant new Compliance Monitoring Officer to join our team.
Innovative mobility products, like the Corporate CarSharing solution AlphaCity, are changing the way UK businesses finance, manage and use company cars. Supporting organisations throughout the World, Alphabet manages a fleet of over 144,000 vehicles in the UK and more than 585,000 vehicles across 18 countries worldwide.
Alphabet is continually evolving, with ambitions for growth that requires our Compliance Team to help meet and support these exciting challenges. You will be supporting us by defining and developing a robust and effective risk based Compliance Monitoring Programme. You will also assist with delivering the plan by conducting targeted, independent 2nd line compliance monitoring and testing of the business' compliance with key regulatory requirements.
The role:

  • Assist with the delivery and development of the annual Compliance Monitoring Programme. Provide on-going regulatory advice by recommendations based on findings from compliance monitoring reviews.  Identify potential regulatory (particularly conduct risk) issues that may arise within the business and suggest recommendations for improvement; sharing best practices where relevant. Deliver bespoke reports on each compliance monitoring review undertaken and provide regular updates to the Compliance Monitoring Manager on monitoring activities and reporting of performance against monitoring activities. Encourage a proactive compliance culture within the business and improve knowledge of key regulatory initiatives (such as Treating Customers Fairly - "TCF") within Alphabet. Monitor regulatory changes impacting the consumer credit market and communicating requirements to senior management and the wider business.

The individual

  • Proven, relevant experience in an appropriate financial services compliance environment; direct leasing and consumer credit experience would be advantageous. Previous 2nd line compliance monitoring or internal audit background would be highly preferable. Strong technical background and knowledge of FCA and compliance related matters, as well as a good understanding of relevant UK and European legislation, codes of practice and industry guidelines that impact a business. Relevant professional qualifications (financial or legal) could be beneficial. Passionate about delivering the highest level of customer service, both internally and externally. Outstanding influencing and negotiation skills; able to work collaboratively to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes. Strong analytical and information gathering experience with a good degree of commercial awareness and a great eye for detail. Effective, proactive communicator with the ability to deliver commercial and operational messages and influence stakeholders drawn from a wide audience. Self-motivated and self-managing with a truly and entrepreneurial spirit.

In 2016 Alphabet was recognised as a Top Employer for the third consecutive year and in 2015 we achieved Silver standard from Investors in People. We invest in our employees and embrace a culture of flexible working as well as promoting a positive, supportive culture and working environment. We have just moved into new, prestigious offices in Farnborough that provide a great place to work with good people and an industry leading brand.
