C# Developer/Software Developer - Chatham
My client based in Chatham is currently going through a huge digital transformation programme. This has identified a number of opportunities to improve their IT Systems and better meet the needs of their users and make their services more efficient.
*Design and develop systems and associated interfaces, including web and non-web systems, using the necessary development tools and techniques, in accordance with the standards and policies of the ICT Department.
*Advise customers on the appropriate ways in which in-house systems development or third party systems can be used effectively.
*Maintain all necessary documentation to agreed standards.
*Support the planning and specifying new developments as required by the principal
*Oversee and participate in software testing activities for all systems to include functional testing and user acceptance testing on both new software developments and new releases of existing software, using the necessary development tools and techniques, in accordance with the standards and policies of the ICT Department
*Support team members, when necessary, building skill-sets in order to develop and support new and existing applications.
*Cross train and coach junior team members to build their skills sets.
*Carry out all duties with regard to the Equal Opportunities Policy and health & Safety Regulations.
*Any other duties as required by the Principal Software Developer.
*Experience in designing, developing, and maintaining system developments of small to medium complexity and scale.
*Demonstrable experience in designing, developing, and maintaining system developments and associated interfaces in a variety of environments.
*Demonstrable experience in scoping, sizing and planning system developments to support the delivery of application and web systems.
*Designing systems from UML specification using an Object Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD) methodology
*Development of systems that utilise Microsoft SQL Server 2010 or above
*Development of systems that utilise using Oracle 9i or above
*Open Source products including native languages such as PHP
*Windows 2000 server or above
*Unix/Linux platforms including Solaris or RedHat
*Development in the following:
oVBScript, Visual Basic/VB.NET, Java
*Fixing bugs, preparing patches, and version and change control
*Excellent communication skills both written and oral.
*Excellent customer service awareness.
*Competent in written and spoken English.
