Company

Our client, Tamar Energy is a renewable energy company, focusing on anaerobic digestion and offers a range of composting services. To support their evolution a new and rare opportunity has been created for a competent and rigorous Maintenance Engineer / Fitter for their fully operational plant at Farleigh near Basingstoke, one of the most recognised facilities in the UK. From day one you will be given ownership and accountability with the real potential to develop in this successful facility which generates 1.5 MW of renewable energy.

Role

This is a practical and hands-on multi skilled operator's role which will involve ensuring the plant is reliable, effective and fully utilised. You will play a key part in maintenance and solving and repairing mechanical and electrical issues as appropriate, this can cover areas such as changing pumps, motors, and control systems. As well as your day to day responsibilities you will also have an opportunity to be involved in some Assistant Management duties in the Plant Manager's absence. Daily responsibilities will include;

  • Uphold Health and Safety procedures across the site.
  • In conjunction with the plant manager take ownership of plant maintenance and provide regular update on maintenance activities;
  • Daily, weekly and monthly checks to be carried out on site
  • Risk rank all site equipment #probabilities of failure#
  • Develop a preventative maintenance system
  • Take responsibility for contractors on site;
  • Ensure method statements and risk assessments are provided prior to arrival on site and are reviewed and amendments made prior to contractors arrival on site to complete task.
  • Ensure all contractors on site are signed in and all works are inspected after completion before signing out.
  • Ensure the necessary prep work is done prior to contractor's arrival on site.
  • Ensure contractor is on list of approved contractors.
  • Optimise plant operations through maintenance and use of SCADA system to achieve key performance indicators.
  • Ensure plant maintenance work is carried out on time and regular inspections are carried out to improve reliability.
  • Support the Plant Manager to identify areas of improvement.
  • Maintain Plant spares and tolls inventory;
  • Take stock of current stock availability and ensure all critical spares are available.
  • Continuously manage spares stocks.
  • Develop relationships with suppliers for major plant equipment to help manage plant support.


Person

We are searching for a driven and up and coming hands-on Maintenance Engineer who has the potential to develop. You will have an aptitude for problem solving and good IT skills. Experience gained from working in areas such as agriculture #farming#, mechanical, electrical, gas systems and fluid controls would be beneficial. Relevant education/qualifications in these areas are advantageous but not necessary as experience and a hands-on attitude is more important. It will be advantageous to live within easy reach of the facility as there can be some but very infrequent out of hour's calls. You must be flexible to work long hours according to the needs of the business.
