Tideway is seeking a lawyer to assist the General Counsel and legal team to provide legal advice and support to all areas of the business.

The duties of the Lawyer will focus primarily on the following:
•    Providing legal services to Tideway which ensure that its interests are safeguarded, and that it always complies with regulations, relevant laws and legal obligations;
•    Providing legal advice on the three Main Works Contracts and the System Integrator Contract;
•    Providing legal support for Tideway’s procurement and supply chain management activities, including OJEU compliant procurement processes;
•    The successful applicant may also be responsible for some of the following areas:
o    Providing input into property issues, planning and consents compliance and statutory and non-statutory compensation;
o    Providing legal input into the agreements with other companies, government and also the alliancing arrangements with the Main Works contractors;
o    Providing advice on the Project Management Contract;
o    Providing advice on Tideway’s finance agreements and bond programme;
o    Providing legal advice on the obligations under Tideway’s licence and pursuant to the WIA (Water Industries Act 1991, as amended) and SIP Regulations (Specified Infrastructure Projects Regulations 2013);
o    Assisting the Company Secretary;
•    As part of the legal department he / she will work effectively with other key functions (e.g. financial, regulatory, property, procurement and commercial) and experts, shared services and external firms to deliver timely, high quality and high value support; 
•    He / she will proactively manage his/her own workload and when working with external law firms ensure the effective control and management of work performed.

The successful candidate will be a motivated individual and have the following: 

Education and Qualifications
•    significant post qualification experience is mandatory;

•    in house lawyer or solicitor in private practice with significant experience in major infrastructure project delivery is a mandatory requirement; 
•    experience in non-contentious construction (including NEC3) and public procurement experience and planning law  is mandatory
•    experience in Utilities Contracts Regulations 2016 and public sector experience would both be preferred; 
•    contentious construction, general commercial, project financing or regulatory experience are advantageous;
•    company secretarial experience would be advantageous.

•    proactive with problem solving /solutions based approach to issues;
•    self-starter with experience of working independently as well as being a good team player;
•    ability to manage conflicting priorities;

•    stakeholder management, both internally and externally.
