Communications Assistant - Hearing Impaired Specialist

Hours of Work: Permanent, 37 hours per week, Term Time Only

Term Time Only Salary: Grade 7, Points 22 to 26, £17,564 to £19,891

The Trust is seeking to appoint an experienced Communications Assistant to join our successful Learning Support & SEN Team as soon as possible. The post holder will be responsible for working with students with impaired hearing and so experience in this student focused support is essential. We are a highly successful Trust, with an expanding number of academies covering the ages of 3-19 and operating across a growing number of campuses. The growth and development of our Multi-Academy Trust makes this an excellent opportunity to join us, as we seek to serve a growing number of young people across the region.

The Learning Support & SEN Faculty is led by the Director of Learning for SEN & Learning Support, supported by a Deputy and two SENCo members of staff. The department mainly work across the two Bluecoat Academy sites, these being Aspley Lane Campus and Wollaton Park Campus.

The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator in written and verbal form, but also be effective in communicating with deaf students. It will also be important for the post holder to accurately interpret what is being said in the classroom and use BSL/Makaton to a suitable standard to support hearing impaired students.
