Job Specification
As a Product Development Engineer, your responsibility will be to design and develop orthopaedic implants and instruments from a blank piece of paper and follow the designs and development through to a successful global launch.
You will create detailed product design and will be given the opportunity of managing the design projects when required. You will be given an opportunity to work with a design team, fabricate models that can be tested, execute testing procedures and draft specifications for manufacturing.

Key skills will be: mechanical design engineering, understanding product development from research and conceptual perspective, with the ability to think on your feet. Well-developed 3D CAD skills.

Your responsibilities will include:
??? Design implant and instrumentation.
??? Create the necessary design documentation to current SOP's and design procedures.
??? Manage specific design projects as and when required, to budgets and plans.
??? File and maintain all design documentation.
??? Create/file/maintain design drawings, process sheets, inspection sheets and other design related documentation.
??? Create 2D and 3D drawings/models for design/manufacturing use, DFM
??? Liaise with Manufacturing and Production Engineering to ensure effective introduction of new devices.
??? Produce design output packages where required.
??? Structural calculations, tolerance stack analysis, CAD assembly assessment.
??? Generate finite element models for the assessment of devices.
??? Create RP models as and when required.
??? Validation and verification to support the development process.

The successful candidate:
??? BEng or BSc in a relevant subject such as Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or Industrial/Product Design or demonstrate a similar level of experience
??? Highly familiar with 3D and 2D CAD and associated analysis tools, NX preferred, however, SolidWorks and Solid Edge also considered
??? Understanding of mechanical design and manufacture principles for high-volume consumable products, DFM
??? A minimum of 1 year post graduate experience within product development, mechanical design and development engineering
??? Ability to track multiple tasks at different stages in the development process
??? Good communication skills
??? Time management skill
??? Experience within a highly regulated industry would be advantageous
??? Design experience from within the medical device field would be an advantage, however, is not a pre-requisite; all product development experience is valued
