Our 2 nd line of defence Credit Risk function adds value to Sainsbury's Bank by ensuring that significant decisions in unsecured credit risk are fully informed, transparent, recorded and reported. As Head of Unsecured Credit Risk Oversight, you will build oversight capability giving our Executive a high level of assurance that our Unsecured Credit Risks are being managed in line with the Bank's strategy, risk appetite and policy while optimising risk adjusted performance.

We're looking for someone with an excellent track record of success in Retail Credit Risk Management and an expert knowledge of the unsecured credit risk cycle. As importantly, you must be a credible leader and relationship manager, with the ability to influence at Executive level.

Your role responsibilities will include:

Provide leadership and strategic direction for Unsecured Credit Risk from a 2 nd line of defence perspective Own the Unsecured Credit Risk components of the Bank's Retail Credit Risk Management Framework and Retail Credit Risk Policy and support the Head of Credit Risk in securing Board approval for these Provide advice and guidance to 1 st line of defence stakeholders and 3 rd party suppliers on Unsecured Credit Risk Appetite, Unsecured Credit Risk Policy and regulatory requirements and support the embedding of the Bank's Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework Support the 1 st line of defence and wider business with the identification, assessment, management and control of Unsecured Credit Risk 2 nd line oversight of Unsecured Credit Risk to provide assurance that risks are being managed in accordance with the Bank's credit risk appetite and policy whilst optimising performance Provision of Unsecured Credit Risk reporting for 2 nd line Retail Credit Risk Committee, Executive Risk Committee, Board Risk Committee and Board. With other members of the 2 nd Line Credit Risk team, manage the 2 nd Line Retail Credit Risk Committee. Attend 1 st and 2 nd line of defence Credit Risk Committees, providing formal risk opinions on 1 st line of defence proposals that have an Unsecured Credit Risk impact Deputise for the Head of 2 nd Line Credit Risk Oversee the Unsecured Credit Risk business plan, bad debt and stress testing forecasts and other risk quantification methodologies, such as those used in ICAAP risk assessments Lead the 2 nd Line Unsecured Credit Risk function oversight and assurance activity in key change activities, including New Bank Programme, IFRS9 and Mortgages programmes, providing advice and guidance to the business Maintain excellent relationships with colleagues in the 1 st line of defence Unsecured Credit Risk function and wider business by supporting their risk optimisation activities, providing them with effective and independent oversight and assurance Increase the effectiveness of quantitative risk analysis across Unsecured Credit Risk

Your skills, knowledge and experience:

Track record of success in senior roles in Retail Credit Risk Management, 2 nd Line experience would be an advantage Expert knowledge of the Unsecured Credit Risk cycle, gained by significant experience in Unsecured Credit Risk, with a wide network of contacts across the Credit Risk industry Expert knowledge of modern risk management techniques and scoring systems Significant management experience in a relevant financial services environment with a good understanding of retail products and channels Proven speaking, presentation and facilitation experience (as demonstrated at various Risk committees) Strong awareness and understanding of Conduct Risk Strong awareness of the control environment within a financial services organisation Proven senior leader and relationship manager across teams and in a matrix management organisation. You will manage a team of a manager and analyst. Excellent relationship management skills, proven ability to influence at Executive level Project management skills in complex multi-functional projects High level of creativity, innovation and initiative Excellent analytical skills - highly numerate First class report writing and communication skills Proven ability to interpret management information for Executive reporting, providing accurate information within tight timescales Innovative, creative approach to problem solving Professional Qualification or Degree in relevant discipline
