Right now, one of our partners, Richmond Fellowship, is looking for a peer support coordinator to join the team in our East Hampshire mental health support service. Providing both supported housing and community based floating support, we enable individuals to progress in their recovery and it’s only possible with the help of people like you.
Day-to-day, you’ll work with the team leaders, peer support volunteers and the people who use our services to develop an inclusive and effective peer support service, offering individual and group support. That means you will be recruiting and supporting a network of volunteers who have personal experience of using mental health services, to help others on their own recovery journey. You will contribute to the development of organisational policies, procedures, protocols, systems and guidance to underpin the provision of peer support across the organisation. Identifying and implementing training programmes; promoting the service to stakeholders and operating a fully compliant service to agreed budgets – all are part and parcel of this challenging role.
To succeed, you’ll need a good understanding of the recovery and personalisation agenda and the principles and practice on which mental health services are run. Experience of recruiting and/or supervising volunteers would be useful too, although is not essential. You must, however, have a proven ability to consult, liaise and work collaboratively with a team of colleagues and a wide range of external organisations and a flexible approach to working hours. Well-organised and self-motivated, good problem and decision-making skills are essential, as is an innate ability to cope with personal stress.
You will need to be able to travel daily across a large geographical area including locations in East Hampshire, Havant, Gosport and Fareham.
