Bursar and Clerk to the Governors - St David’s College, Llandudno, North Wales

St David’s College is an independent day and boarding school for pupils aged 9 to 19, with a pupil roll of around 240. We are situated close to the Snowdonia National Park and on the outskirts of the coastal resort of Llandudno, North Wales. The school is a charitable trust.

The Headmaster and Governors invite applications for the post of Bursar and Clerk to the Governors.

The post becomes vacant in January 2017, although a delayed start could be offered to the successful applicant if a longer notice period is required.

The Bursar is a key member of the School’s Senior Management Team and works closely with the Headmaster in ensuring effective management of finance administration and all support services. The Bursar, with the support of an Assistant Bursar, secretary and admin team, is responsible for control and management of finances and produces the statutory accounts. The Bursar also takes the lead on health and safety matters and human resources.

The Bursar with the support of an Estates Manager has overall responsibility for the upkeep and maintenance of all school buildings and extensive grounds together with the capital works programme.

As Clerk to the Governors, the Bursar arranges all Governors’ meetings and prepare papers for those meetings.  The Bursar liaises closely with the Governors on all decision-making at Trustee level.

The post holder will have a professional management or accountancy qualification and will demonstrate strong experience gained in financial management and staff management.
