Job Summary

A dynamic and creative marketer, you will play a key role in devising and implementing digital marketing plans and campaigns for student, research and commercial markets in line with the overarching University marketing strategy. You will also be responsible for managing and developing the social media platforms used by the University.

You will have a degree in marketing or a related discipline and have experience in producing marketing collateral to brand guidelines and be able to demonstrate successful campaign planning and return on investment.  You will have experience of successful campaign planning and of commissioning, evaluating and understanding market research.

Salary on first appointment is normally to the bottom of the scale, although in exceptional circumstances an appointment further up the scale may be considered.

Job Description

Responsible To Head of Marketing

Purpose of Post To assist the Head of Marketing in developing and implementing digital marketing plans and campaigns for student, research and commercial markets in line with the overarching University marketing strategy. You will also be responsible for managing and developing the social media platforms used by the University

Principal Duties

To research, develop, implement and monitor digital campaigns including Google Adwords, Facebook and LinkedIn, which effectively and efficiently generate enquiries for courses, research and business services.

Monitor blogs and industry sources for intelligence on trends and new developments and identify new opportunities that will inform marketing plans and contribute to the University’s marketing strategy.

To develop and coordinate CRM activities (email communications) with Admissions and Marketing teams that  effectively turn initial enquiries into applications/business and enrolments.

Editorial responsibility for University's profile on Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram and overview of other social media platforms such as Twitter and YouTube.

Lead the University social media group, which coordinates and develops content University social media platforms

To manage the University’s profiles on 3rd party websites such as course comparison sites

To consistently apply the University’s brand across all media, print, digital, and otherwise, encouraging creative solutions which both cater for diverse markets and niche requirements.

To manage agency relationships where appropriate to ensure cost-effective and timely delivery.

Build effective working relationships across the University working cooperatively with other Directorate teams, Faculties and Departments to achieve established targets and objectives.

Carry out such other related marketing duties as may be assigned.



Person Specification

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications and Professional Requirements

First Degree in marketing or related discipline. You could also have a masters degree in marketing or CIM qualification. 

Knowledge and Experience

Understanding of how digital and web technologies and applications are used in a marketing environment.

Use of analytical reporting tools for tracking.

ROI of digital campaigns.

Demonstrable experience of working in a digital marketing role.

Experience in the successful use of social media for marketing purposes.

Experience in preparing briefs, briefing designers/agencies, managing internal and third party relationships, campaigns run on time and on budget.

Track record of successful site analysis including experience in SEO activities.

Production of marketing communications including email and social media, using agreed brand guidelines.

Strong online copywriting and sub-editing skills.

Unsociable Hours.

You may have to work some weekends and evenings at events such as open evenings, open day and recruitment fairs.

DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications and Professional Requirements

Membership Of Chartered Institute of Marketing or similar.

Knowledge and Experience

Familiarity with the higher education sector.

Experience of working with online applications such as image libraries and content management systems.
