Effluent Plant Technician Our client is a reputable facilities management company who are looking for a Effluent Plant Technician. The job will be to ensure the condition of the waste water discharged from the Reading Plant is within the parameters determined by Thames Water. Effluent Plant Management Duties will be to - Ensure that the incoming effluent waste managed so that it is stored within the appropriate storage vessel. Maintain a balance of stored effluent in between the three storage vessels. Sample and record the condition of stored effluent waste. Relay effluent and water samples to laboratory for testing then analyse and record results, and implement and record any changes made to overcome quality issues. Draw effluent from bulk storage through the flocculation tanks and into the separator tank. Checking effluent conditions, adding caustics/coagulants/polymers as appropriate until effluent within the separator tank is at the appropriate condition. Maintain stock of chemicals [caustics/coagulants/polymers] Monitor operation of separator tank and inbuilt skimming mechanism to ensure optimum performance. Manage "clean" water discharge from separator tank, sample and record conditions and quantities. Facilitate disposal of soap waste into storage containers and manage storage of full and supply of empty containers as appropriate. Maintain records of: Samples tested together with any remedial actionsQuantities of incoming effluentQuantities of processed effluentQuantities of waste matter for disposalChemical usage [caustics/coagulants/polymers] Carry out minor PPM works on plant and equipment to ensure correct operation. Ensure that housekeeping with Effluent Plant room is maintained. The hours of work are on a 2 week rotating shift pattern - Monday - Friday 06.00am - 14.00 (Some overtime on Fridays would be required to work on as excess effluent in tanks to clear as no night shift usually until 16.00. The second week Sunday - Thursday 14.00 - 22.00 (Except Sunday where we need to do an 8 hour shift between 07.00 - 15.00 in the day) Sunday shift will be paid at double time The work will start off on a contract basis but could lead to a permanent role for the right candidate. Previous experince in a previous role would be a advantage or in a similar background.
