Newly Qualified Science Teacher - Secondary School - Birmingham - September Start 2017

A position has arisen with one of my client schools for two science teachers to join at the start of the new academic year. These are exciting positions within their science faculty and would suit either experienced science teachers or high calibre NQTs.

Person Specification

You will have recently started your teacher training on a PGCE or similar scheme as a science teacher and now keen to secure your first full time, permanent position from September. Ideally you will have been graded as 'Good' or 'Outstanding' on your final professional placement with excellent school and university references to support your application. You will need to be confident in delivering the curriculum, professional, hard-working and have a genuine passion for teaching science. You will be committed to engaging all learners across the key stages in your chosen subject.

About the Role

You will be joining the school's thriving science department and joining a team of enthusiastic teachers that will help and guide you through this most important year as you gain qualified teacher status. You will have a strong knowledge of the science curriculum and a genuine passion for passing on your knowledge. You will be expected to teach all the sciences to Key Stage 3&4 as well as your science specialism to Key Stage 5 classes in the school's small sixth form. As you settle in to the role you will have the opportunity to progress by taking advantage of the school's excellent CPD programme and extra curricular activities.

About the school
This is an 11-18 age range mixed community comprehensive including a resource base for students with moderate learning difficulties. It is situated in a socially diverse catchment area between in south Birmingham. There are extensive playing fields, a Drama theatre and Dance studio. The school has initiated and managed a number of funded extended school programmes within the local community.
Currently the school has just under 1000 pupils making it a slightly smaller than average secondary school. Included in this number are around 150 pupils in their sixth form college.

The school works closely with its partner primary schools with which there are strong, extensive collaborative ties. Formal collaborative links also exist at 14-19, where the school supports city-wide curricular initiatives, such as the Diplomas, as well as working in partnership with other providers to offer work related learning options.
