Quality Process Engineer

Our client, a growing TS16949 registered, globally recognised automotive components manufacturing company supplying machined and assembled products to the major automotive OEMs across Europe requires two additional experienced Quality Engineers to join its quality and process improvement team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a progressive individual who has experience in Quality Management and is from an automotive background with knowledge of TS and APQP and NPI.

The Quality Engineers primary responsibility is to work with project and manufacturing engineering to deliver new products in line with the company NPI processes to meet customer timelines and product quality requirements.

Reporting to the Quality Manager and taking responsibility for the delivery of processes aligned to the introduction of new products, changes and improvement to current production;
• Working within the Quality Management System framework including TS16949.
• Manage and deliver internal and external customer relationships related to both NPI (APQP, PPAP, ISIR etc.) and current product quality.
• Coordinate fixture sequencing and PPAP off multiple work stations across multiple machine centres using experience of SPC / CPk to deliver on time customer PSW
• Management of projects / components through the Metrology function including the CMM department using knowledge gained of CMM capability.
• Work closely with your peers and line management to drive business KPIs
• Be an active player in a strategically led Continuous Improvement Programme

You will be expected to have a strong automotive background, be very hands on and will have operated successfully in a similar role.

Candidate must have:
• A successful track record of working within Automotive Quality systems including TS16949 and experience of ISO 14001
• Experience at leading / facilitating technical personnel to deliver NPI on time to the required customer standard
• A self-driven systematic approach to identifying and resolving problems with a familiarity in using problem solving tools such as 8D, 5Ys, Fishbone etc.
• A proven track record in managing both OEM and Tier 1 automotive customers and of challenging and working with suppliers

Ideally candidate will have:
• A minimum of an Engineering ONC or HND
• Experience of assembly and in particular precision machining; process management, process improvement, machining centres with an understanding CNC programming
• Metrology and material testing knowledge; surface finish, plasma coating process and or hardness and metal structure, possibly in a laboratory
• Previous management experience of facilitating continuous improvement methodologies including, Lean, Kaizen, Kanban, 5S, TPM, PPM
• An understanding of high level cloud Quality system data capture and electronic storage
• An extensive knowledge of automotive 1st tier manufacturing and supply
• Delivery of KPI / objectives through structured adherence to process

This Quality Engineer role is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with previous Automotive Quality Process Management and LEAN continuous improvement experience to improve standards and to help lead change in a traditional highly skilled engineering environment.

Our client requires: Quality Engineer in this established and growing 1st tier Automotive and components supplier in Northampton. Salary to GBP45,000pa - depending on skill sets and experience
