Senior PHP Developer

Baton-Upon-Humber/Full-Time/GBP45k + Benefits

iSource IT are currently recruiting for a Senior PHP Developer for one of our key clients based in Barton-Upon-Humber. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a fast-growing organisation where new ideas and the latest technologies are welcomed.

As a senior member of the team there will be a requirement to support and mentor junior members of the team.

Role Overview:

As a Senior PHP Developer, you will contribute to the agile development team working on new features which are written using Object Orientated (OO) PHP, MySQL, HTML5 and JavaScript. The successful candidate will be working in an environment that encourages learning and the advancement of your technical skills as a developer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain the organisations customer built, cutting edge applications which are Symfony2 based.
  • Write clean code that is clear and understandable by others
  • Contribute to project specifications and estimations
  • Contribute to all stages of the development life cycle
  • Work with business stakeholders and development team to understand the initial scope for a new project
  • Mentor and support junior members of the team

Experience Required:

  • At least 4 years' experience in creating and mainting Object Orientated PHP5 based systems. (Graduates with a passion for developing and have a coding portfolio will be considered)
  • Experience of working with MySQL 5+
  • Dmeonstrable knowledge of web technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript and AJAX
  • Knowledge of the Symfony2, Symony3 or equivalent framework
  • Knowledge of Doctrine 2 ORM
  • Experience in creating and maintaining RESTful APIs and JSON
  • Experience in Automated Testing (eg Behat)
  • Design patterns knowledge and practical experience in implementing them
  • Experience of Agile project methodologies and its impact on iterative design

Essential Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills - must be able to describe technical issues to a non-technical audience
  • Ability to mentor and support more junior members covering technical and non-technical skills
  • Highly proficient in both spoken and written English
  • A passion for adhering of coding standards and clean code
  • Key eye for detail
