Are you an experienced engineering Design Engineer from within an Aerospace, Aviation, Defence or Precision Engineering environment? We are seeking a Design Engineer for our client based in South Wales. They are a world leading name for products, from concept through to manufacture, a leader of technical excellence within their field and due to continued growth across the whole group a Design Engineer is required to join this growing company.
Main tasks of the role of the Design Engineer
* Responsible for the design and detail modeling of a variety of suite components in order to meet the programme requirements
* To produce designs to meet specified cost/weight targets
* Design engineers will be expected to communicate effectively and professionally with customers and suppliers
* Participate in Design Reviews throughout each phase of the New Product Introduction process
* The selection and application of materials and processes appropriate to each design element
* Ensure the successful integration of each design element within the product as a whole
* Follow and contribute to the development of the Best Practice guidelines
* Check engineering packages
* Design engineers must be prepared to undertake tasks outside of their normal duties as requested by their immediate supervisors
* Participate in the validation of the product (using such methods as prototyping, test, DFMEA)
* Good Composites understanding and knowledge is essential
Purpose or Aim: To produce design schemes and detail drawings that meet company, regulatory and customer requirements.
Key Requirements of the Design Engineer
* Qualified to a minimum of HNC or an equivalent qualification in a Mechanical Engineering field, you will possess a minimum of three years demonstrable experience and preferably hold experience of CAD/CATIA as well as aircraft knowledge.
The successful candidate will have an understanding of the effective application of tolerances and a working knowledge of manufacturing processes such as:
* Machining
* Casting
* Vacuum forming
* Injection moulding
* Composite materials
* Trim and finish
* An understanding of the selection of appropriate hardware (fasteners etc)
* Protective treatments
* The role essentially requires someone who is a competent communicator with the ability to establish good-working relationships across the departments and become an effective team-player
*You MUST be ITAR compliant and UK Government Security Clearance WILL be required for this role due to the nature of the projects involved.
