What does it involve? Network Engineering involves designing solutions to enable communications across the UK and the entire world. That means gathering and analysing requirements, developing high level solutions, selecting network equipment, configuring a wide range of devices, and then testing. Working alongside specialists in communications, electronics and information technology, you'll carry out a range of development and integration services. Your role could either focus on applied research, or on the technical aspects of IT and communications engineering projects. So what do I need? Putting customers first, you take responsibility for delivering improvement and results in all you do. Crucially, you enjoy building relationships and working with others. As well as having a technical mind-set and good problem solving skills, you'll need strong judgement and an analytical approach to your work. You'll need to have or expect either 2.1 degree OR 2.2 degree with additional post grad degree. In addition, you should have a good working knowledge of IP networks, protocols and network components, with the ability to communicate complex concepts to customers.
