This role has been released on a temporary basis the initial contract is for a year. They are looking for a Pension Fund Accountancy Assistant based in .

The post-holder will have primary responsibility for the collection, recording and allocation of contributions payable by the Fund's 230 employing bodies. At the end of the financial year a reconciliation must be undertaken between the monthly payments and the annual return of contributions.

Main Duties:

* Monitor and account for the receipt of all pension contributions due to the Avon Pension Fund, investigating missing payments, taking whatever action is necessary to collect late payments, maintaining a comprehensive record of all contributions received and carrying out year-end reconciliations.
* Prepare all the Fund's creditor invoices for payment and, after ensuring that they have been properly certified and have the correct expenditure code, commit them to the Agresso payments system for authorisation by a senior officer. Ensure compliance with the Council's time limits for paying invoices.
* Recharge to the Fund's employing bodies all "unfunded" pensions, i.e. pension payments which for regulatory reasons cannot be charged to the Fund, ensuring that the amounts recovered are consistent with the relevant payroll totals; subsequently perform a credit control function by taking whatever action is necessary to secure settlement of overdue invoices.
* Raise debtor invoices in respect of all the Fund's income, ensuring that they are correctly coded and have the proper VAT designation assigned to them; subsequently perform a credit control function by taking whatever action is necessary to secure settlement of overdue invoices.
* Support the Finance Manager (Pensions) by monitoring administration expenditure incurred against budget and ensuring that the responsible officers take whatever corrective action is necessary in the case of projected over-spendings.

Qualifications Knowledge & Experience

* An accounting qualification to at least Accounting Technician level. The post-holder needs to have a detailed knowledge of book-keeping.
* The ability to use Microsoft Excel and Word is essential.
* The ideal candidate should possess the ability to produce accurate and timely information while working under pressure and to tight deadlines.
* Excellent communication and diplomacy skills are required to discharge the duties of the post effectively.
* Ability to operate in a team environment with a low level of supervision.
