Finance Officer - Maternity Cover - 12 Months FTC
This is a full time fixed term position for one year Location: Flexible working at London Hub Reporting to: Finance Manager

Objective of the role:
As an experienced finance officer with excellent organisational skills and a keen eye for detail, you will assist the accounting function for group of companies.
By efficiently processing transactions and administering the organisation's purchase ledger, sales ledger and banking systems; your contribution will form a cornerstone of the team's efforts in the effective management of the organisation's systems, and significantly help advance the organisations Vision, Mission, and Values.

Key responsibilities:
1. Administer the purchase ledger for the group of companies, ensuring that all expenditure is promptly processed accurately, and in compliance with the organisation's financial protocols and procedures.
2. Hold responsibility for the day-to-day administration of the sales ledger for the group of companies; ensuring that all sales income is accurately processed in compliance with the organisation's financial protocols and procedures.
3. In close cooperation with colleagues in the Fundraising & Development Team, process all voluntary donations; reconciling receipts to the banking ledger within the accounts system accurately and in a timely fashion, and prepare on a quarterly basis the organisation's Gift Aid summary for submission to HMRC.
4. Working with the Finance Manager, undertake the organisation's bank reconciliation process for all accounts and card ledgers; ensuring that all statements are checked and reconciled to the system in an accurate and timely fashion.
5. Assist the Finance Manager with month end close procedures by undertaking accounting journals to reconcile the organisation's sales ledger, purchase ledger, banking ledgers, and inter-company transactions.
6. Assist the Finance Manager and the broader Finance Team in the preparation and delivery of the annual audit process, and help in the preparation of full year financial accounts.
7. Assist with budget setting processes as required and input budget information into SAP.
8. At the request of either the Finance Manager or Finance Director, undertake and assist with any other similar duties as required.

The ideal candidate will have the following key skills & experience:
Personal attributes needed for this role are: • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks. • The ability to work accurately and with clear attention to detail. • Ability to strictly follow agreed financial protocols, and to use one's own initiative and common sense as required. • Strong commitment to team working, and an ability to build strong, mutually beneficial relationships with colleagues from across the whole organisation. • Ability to work independently as required with a positive and flexible approach. • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to liaise with non-finance members of the broader team.

Experience/Knowledge: • Excellent track record in a similar accounting role; with a hands-on approach to the management and administration of sales, purchase and banking ledgers. • Proven technical experience and ability in the preparation of supporting documentation for balance sheet items such as fixed assets, prepayments, petty cash and accruals. • Ability to reliably undertake Bank and monthly reconciliations and journal posting. • Thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office365, particularly Excel 2016 for which you must be an advanced user. • Proven experience of maintaining finance-based administrative systems, including paper and electronic filing.

Education and Professional Qualifications needed: • Educated to degree standard or equivalent.
Familiarity with the charitable and not-for-profit sector. • Part qualified by recognised professional accountancy body. • An understanding of UK reporting and tax regulations would be advantageous. • Experience of having used SAP accountancy software would be an advantage.
