Neighbourhood Housing Officer


Salary: HH Scale 6 (£24,977 - £26,647)

Initial 3 Months Fixed Term Contract with an option to extend

Part-time – 18.5 hours per week is advertising for a number of Neighbourhood Housing Officer roles on behalf of their client, a leading social housing provider based in Accrington.

As Neighbourhood Housing Officer, you will be responsible for a patch of approximately 350 properties dealing with marketing and allocation of properties, tenancy breaches, low-level ASB, estate inspections, general housing management and supporting the local community in line with the Groups Policies and Procedures.

To carry out the full range of housing management duties on a designated patch to include the following:

Void inspections, marketing, allocation of properties in accordance with the allocation policy.

Rent collection and monitoring of low-level arrears.

Referring vulnerable tenants for support to prevent tenancy failure.

Monitor the standard of services provided on the estates including the ace team and grounds maintenance staff.

Provide knowledge of estates for use in repairs and improvement programmes and help develop estate profiles.

Liaise with the tenants and attend resident working groups and resident association meetings in order to provide feedback.

Take a leading role in mainstreaming tenant involvement on estates.

Deputise for the Neighbourhood Housing Managers and act as a representative for the organisation at meetings with partner organisations and at Group meetings.

Candidate Requirements:

To be successful, you will have solid experience of working in housing or a related profession, a good understanding of key housing legislation and experience of working in partnership and further developing positive working relationships with new and existing external agencies.

For this Neighbourhood Housing Officer role, you will have excellent communication skills and experience of working with Microsoft Office packages, creative and innovative approach to problem-solving and the ability to create long-term solutions is essential as is the ability to work on own initiative within defined guidelines.

It is vital to have strong interpersonal skills and be able to produce clear, concise and objectively written reports

The ability to drive and access to use of a motor vehicle for work is essential.
