Job Title: Senior RF Engineer - R&D

Sector: Hi Tech Manufacturing

Location: Paignton, Devon

Salary: GBP38,000 to GBP42,000 per annum

Senior RF Engineer - R&D: You will join a world leading electronics company, and perform RF engineering activities within the photonic components R&D team. This team develops transmitters, receivers and modules for optical communication systems.

THE COMPANY:

You will join a global manufacturer of high tech electronic components who have a strong focus on research and development, and have been at the forefront of their market for over three decades.

THE ROLE:

Knowledgeable engineer with understanding of RF fundamentals, RF practical measurement and experience of general laboratory measurement methods. Must be familiar with CAD. Experience of analogue electronic design an advantage. Will join a product R&D team and contribute to the development of new components and modules for next generation optical transmission systems.

The role will involve working under the principal RF design engineer to deliver the RF element of new product developments. This will include designing, organising and running of practical test vehicles for RF structures. The individual will work closely with other members of the design team, including optical and electronic engineers, test and process development engineers and the product qualification team to deliver cost effective product solutions in a timely manner.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Honours degree or equivalent in physics, electronics or equivalent technical discipline

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

  • Basic understanding of RF fundamentals for high speed transmission
  • RF s-parameter test
  • RF simulation tools
  • Practical measurement techniques, data correlation and results analysis
  • Familiarity with the use of software to automate laboratory measurements
  • Analogue and digital design techniques would be an advantage
  • Circuit design, schematic capture, simulation and PCB layout techniques would be an advantage
